Ford Motor Co. recall 3.8 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles for a cruise control brake pressure deactivation switch suspected of causing engine fires. It is the fifth largest auto industry recall in U.S. history. The recall of 1994-2002 model-year vehicles includes the company's F-150 pickup truck, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Bronco.  AP.  Cruise Control Brake Pressure Deactivation Switch
Note: This recall follows a federal investigation into 1995-1999 and 2001-2002 F-150s and 1997-1999 and 2001-2002 Expeditions and Navigators annouced in March 2005 and not yet completed.  On 27th Jan 2005 there was a recall for 792,000 Model Year 2000  F-150s, Expeditions, Navigators and 2001 F-Series Supercrews. Modifications in the latest recall include a low current fusible link in the wiring harness to protect against excess fault current should the switch fail.  Links below.
